HANDWRITING: A PSYCHOGRAM OF THE BRAIN
Shamoita Bose
May 26, 2020, 11AM - 12PM
Handwriting is a seemingly simple physical activity with the sole purpose and outcome of communicating messages in the form of words, sentences, and paragraphs. What we may not know is that handwriting is a complex, perceptual, and procedural-motor skill that involves extensive neural activity and cognitive processes; thereby revealing a vast range of information about the writer. Let’s take a look at how and what information does handwriting provide us with.
AGGRESSION AND EMOTION REGULATION AMONG ADOLESCENTS
Prashanto Saha
May 26, 2020, 5PM - 6PM
The causal mechanism for aggressive behaviour is still a major concern in mental health domains. Neuroimaging studies help us in elucidating the interrelationship between neurocognitive functioning, personality traits, and antisocial and violent behaviour. The webinar will focus on how to cater to emotion and aggressive tendencies among adolescents using brain-behaviour measuring techniques.
HUMAN BRAIN MEMORY: VAST OCEAN OF REMEMBRANCE & FORGETTING
Arun Pratap Sikarwar
May 27, 2020, 11AM -12PM
The human brain is an indispensable master organ of the body & consists of about 86 billion neurons. Each neuron makes almost a thousand connections to other neurons, amounting to more than a trillion connections of brain interactome. If each neuron could only help store a single memory, running out of space would be a problem & we would have a few gigabytes of storage space. Yet the neurons combine so unequally that each one helps with many memories at a time, exponentially increasing the brain’s memory storage capacity like a vast ocean. I shall be discussing some important facets of human brain memory, especially about what is memory, its types, phenomena of forgetting, the role of the hippocampus in memory, nootropics, and neurobics, etc.
NEUROPLASTICITY AND PSYCHOTHERAPY
Shagnik Saha
Canceled
Exploring and understanding contextually the various neuronal changes due to long term therapeutic experience associated with counselling and psychotherapy while accounting for psychopharmaceutical interventions and changes in brain chemistry.
TOUCH TICKLE & POKE: THE NEUROSCIENCE OF TACTILE SENSORY SYSTEMS
Leslee Lazar
May 27, 2020, 5PM - 6PM
In our everyday life, we are able to touch and perceive many different shapes, textures, vibrations, and temperatures on the surface of our skin. We recognize the shape of our house keys in our pocket without seeing and feel the "heat" in spicy masala. Such remarkable feats of perception are possible because of our somatosensory system. In this talk, I will present fascinating experiments and mind-blowing facts about our fascinating sense of touch.
BRAIN COMPUTER INTERFACE AND APPLICATIONS IN REHABILITATION
Christoph Guger
May 27, 2020, 9PM - 10PM
G.tech products are internationally used in clinical and research environments for analyzing brain activity, brain assessments of severe brain injuries and disorders of consciousness, motor rehabilitation after stroke, neuromarketing, deep brain stimulation, brain mapping, neuroprosthesis control, and communication. He has been changing people’s lives with impeccable products which help in neurorehabilitation such as recoveriX. mindBEAGLE another product developed to help people with communicating without moving their lips.
BECOMING A SUPER-AGER: IMPROVING COGNITIVE FUNCTIONING THROUGH A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
John Bellone
May 28, 2020, 11AM - 12PM
Rates of cognitive decline and brain disorders such as Alzheimer's disease increase with advanced age, and the world's population is aging rapidly. However, not all older adults experience a decline in abilities, and we call these individuals Super-Agers. This begs the question, 'What are these individuals doing differently, and how can I become a Super-Ager'. This uplifting talk will walk through several powerful, evidence-based lifestyle factors that people of all ages can do to reduce their chances of cognitive decline.
SUICIDE AND THE BRAIN
Anjali Chhabria
May 28, 2020, 5PM - 6PM
According to WHO report of 2019, India has the highest suicide rate in the South-East Asian region. Addressing this issue is the need of the hour. The 'whys' and the 'whens' of suicide will be discussed in this talk. Further, light will be shed on how one can help self and others who are tending towards depressive thoughts and suicidal ideations.
FUNDAMENTALS OF MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING
Sagar Chaturvedi

Introduction to MRI with its basic principles and the concept of magnetic field.
Process of production of MR images, and a brief introduction on how to read to some
extent. Basic yet important structural and functional differences between MRI and
fMRI, with an introduction to fNIRS, and its relation to MRI.
